By integrating complex big data systems

    Big data integration

Ed-Fi links educational data networks securely and seamlessly. Giving teachers complete visibility into the performance of each student, each classroom, and the institution. Teachers and administrators have entered data into various systems, databases, and software for decades. There are separate systems for rostering information, behavior data, curriculum, assessment, etc.

Education data systems were previously disconnected from one another, making it impossible to get a comprehensive picture of what was happening in the classroom. The Ed-Fi tools provide a permanent solution to this issue.

The Ed-Fi Data Standard is a set of guidelines for gathering, managing, and organizing educational data. It enables information from many systems to be shared seamlessly and usefully.

A data standard establishes guidelines for the formatting and transmitting of data among systems.

Why Ed-Fi Data Standard and Tools Are Important?

Until this point, each piece of instructional technology had its own "language" for data management and storage. Since the languages of each tool varied, integration was all but impossible. The learning management system was unable to communicate with the assessment program, which in turn was unable to communicate with the student information system.  The outcome? Educators can still not fully understand their students' requirements and difficulties. Data is categorized, making it less helpful.

The Ed-Fi Data Standard is the secret to raising student accomplishment and teacher satisfaction, thanks to its field-proven, scalability and elegant design. The leading data standard created by Ed-Fi has been tried and tested in classrooms and is utilized by real educators. Without Ed-Fi, educators would continue to have limited knowledge of what is effective and how to distinguish between the two.

Regular updates and expansions are made to Ed-Fi technology, which includes the instruments that make Ed-Fi implementation simple and rapid, as well as the programs that assist instructors in visualizing their data.

Ed-Fi is a free and open-source data standard: Many things make up the Ed-Fi Alliance. Ed-Fi is fundamentally a Data Standard. Then, Ed-Fi is a Technological Suite and an Operational Data Store/API that collaborates to enable data interoperability for the education sector seamlessly, economically, and safely without restricting the technology products a school, district, or state can choose to use. Our data standard is available to everyone for free.

It's an Open Community on Ed-Fi: Ed-Fi is more than just technology; it's a community. Our community comprises innovators, educationalists, administration staff, agencies, collaboratives, and vendors who support one another by openly sharing interoperability solutions and advancing the use of data for student success.

Not Just a Dashboard: Ed-Fi is more than a simple dashboard.

It includes a dashboard tool intended to be a starting point for districts exploring data visualization. Still, it provides many other tools that help with rostering and evaluation, federal and state reporting, data mapping to the Ed-Fi Data Standard, and more.

The Ed-Fi Data Standard and Technology Suite aims to enable schools, regions, and states to achieve data interoperability irrespective of their technology products. As such, Ed-Fi encourages all education technology providers to become Ed-Fi Certified.
